 RULES for applying for UPI crowns

UPI's system for CROWNS is based on points that the photographers collect from acceptances, mentions and awards in international exhibitions and salons of any patronage.

UPI Crown 1: 200 points

UPI Crown 2: 600 (200+400new) points

UPI Crown 3: 2500 (600+1900new) points

UPI Crown 4: 6000 (2500+3500new) points

UPI Crown 5: 15000 (6000+9000new) points

 

Accepted photo or portfolio = 2 points

Honorable Mention or Diploma = 4 points

Medal or Trophy = 6 points

 

All these points are doubled if the Salon has UPI’s license

(i.e. Accepted image = 4 points; HM/ Diploma = 8 points; Medal/ trophy = 12 points).

 

In order to apply for CROWNS, the member must fill the CROWN-FORM in Excel format downloadable from the website.

VERY IMPORTANT: in order to count the total points, every admission/mention/award MUST BE INSERTED ONLY INTO ONE CELL (among 6 cells available) in “page B” sheet!

The file must be sent by e-mail to the Person in charge for UPI Crowns.

No CD must be sent by ordinary mail. If any doubt, the applicants may be required to send proofs of the evidence containing the PDF or jpg files of the pages of the catalogues by ordinary mail. It is the applicant’s duty and responsibility to provide true datas which will be checked.

UPI Crown Distinctions

There are two assessment dates per year for UPI CROWNS. The closing date for sending applications are the 31st of May and 31st of October.

The cost of each Crown is 30€ and can be paid in one of 2 ways.

A. Payment by electronic bank transfer (Preferred Method) for the full amount (Bank: KBC; IBAN: BE92 7340 2604 5923 BIC: KREDBEBB ) quoting “CROWN” and the level applied for.

B. Payments to UPI through the PayPal system, please quote the e-mail address that follows  membershipupi@gmail.com for the full amount and quoting “CROWN” and the level applied for.
   

A different system of UPI TITLES based on stunning photo collections is:

Aphrodite: 2 photos from 5 different categories (out of 10 categories)
Hermes: 5 photos from 5 different categories (out of 10 categories)
Zeus: 10 photos from 5 different categories (out of 10 categories)

The 10 categories among which the author can choose are:
Open, Portrait, Nature, Landscape, Creative, Snapshots/Street photography, Travel,
Nude / Staged photography, Sports/Journalism, Architecture.

The photos must be sent in digital format and high resolution (minimum of 2500 pixel maximum dimension at 300 dpi) to:

The same images cannot be used in more than one title. The number of judges who will be involved in assessing UPI TITLES are 5, chosen by the UPI Governing Board from different countries every year and communicated by the newsletter and/or website. Remember, it is outstanding portfolios of work that are required for awarding UPI TITLES.

To obtain the Aphrodite and Hermes title the favorable vote of 3 judges from 5 are requested, while for Zeus 4 favorable votes from 5 are needed.

There is only one assessment date per year for UPI TITLES. The closing date for sending applications and CD’s is the 31st of October each year and the results will be declared by 10th February the following year. It will not be possible to return the CD’s.

All applications and CD’s received after 31st October will be held and assessed the following year.
